First Day of School

Yesterday was Chris' very first day of Kindergarten! He has Mrs. Smith and she seems wonderful.

Here he is bright and early in his uniform.

And then we got to school and I made him sit at his desk. He was not a happy camper.
He did cry a little when I left but Mrs. Smith came over and hugged on him and whispered in his ear - again, I think she's going to be wonderful!

When I picked Chris up, he was so happy! He gave Mrs. Smith a big hug (which he doesn't do usually - I have to beg him to give me a hug!) and didn't stop talking the whole way home. He had a great day!

Emily's first day of Little Sprouts was last week. This is the picture of her on her first day!
She loves her teacher, "Miss" Sarah!

Say Cheese (But Not Too Big)!

Last week I took the kids to have their pictures taken. We hadn't gotten any done since Emily turned one, so I figured it was about time!

I'm mailing copies to all the family, but here's a sneak peek:

What?

Oooohhhh.... I forgot to mention that these were the out-takes? Worried for a minute, were ya?

We tried out a new place called Portrait Innovations. It's definitely a nice change from our local JCPenneys which had gone way downhill in the 4 years that we used them.

We had the hardest time getting Chris to look, well, normal. The photographer was a young gal and she didn't do much to make them smile and laugh; she just kind of sat there and said
"Smile big". See the weird, pained expression on Chris' face? That's him smiling big. Only I didn't figure that out until afterward when we were already at home. When I said "just do a small smile" he looked like he could be a catalog model. Oh well.
We managed to get a couple of really cute shots and I think I want our annual Christmas card picture to be done here.

If you want to see the real pictures that we had printed just let me know and I'll email them to you. : )

Mmmm! Yummy Humble Pie

After my semi-regular inspirational meeting with Sara, (we met at McD's so the kids could play while we chatted), I was determined to go 3 miles on the treadmill instead of my more commonly done 2 miles. I was also determined to complete the 3 miles with more jogging than walking.

So, after I was done, I came back in from the patio with my red sweaty face and somewhat out of breath and I felt really good. Well, Chris and Emily came running up to me.
Chris said, "Mom, Mom, are you okay? You looked like you needed help out there."

Aren't they darling? Grrrr.
