Time Flies....

Okay, so this is our May edition of the blog, because it seems that I can't post more than once a month anymore.

END OF SCHOOL

Emily had a pool party on her last day of "school" and this is the swimsuit that she wore. Apparently she was so excited about it that she kept raising up her dress to show anyone who would look.

This is Chris on his last day of school. He looks so happy!

Chris' graduation pictures:

Chris and Emily just before we left for graduation. Chris' school makes a BIG deal about graduating from K-5. They put on a huge program to "show off" all of the things they've learned and they have a slide show of the last secret field trip that the class takes. Then they do an actual ceremony with cap and gown and moving the tassels and everything. This is all followed by a reception with cake and punch. It's really very nice.

Chris saying his part in the program. Notice where the microphone hits him? He's the tallest kid in the K-5. We could barely hear him, but he didn't miss a word.

Chris getting his diploma from the principal.

The entire K-5

They were playing the traditional "Pomp and Circumstance" and since Chris was one of the first ones to go up on stage, he had a long wait ahead. He started "conducting" the music and Scott caught him with his camera. He also caught him picking his nose, but Chris was a bit embarrassed by that and would die if I posted it.

Then Emily started making faces at Chris to try to get him to laugh. She's the bad kid. : )

There he is! Our graduate.

Me in front of the silhouette they made of each kid. Some definitely were more, um, distorted than others. Chris was one of the ones who definitely struck a weird pose.

Chris with the cousins and the baby sis.

The Saturday of Memorial weekend we went to the annual Star Spangled Salute on base. This year the airshow had the Thunderbirds as one of the main attractions. They were beautiful as always.

Chris and Em dressed up in their patriotic gear.

The kids and I went through the tour of the AWACS.

This was the Harrier, the aircraft that can hover like a helicopter and turn around in one spot in the air. It was amazing. The pictures don't do it any justice.

Next is a set of pictures of something that we found inside our grill. They started off fresh out of the shell with their eyes still closed.

Then several days later their eyes opened.

And they became braver.

This is how big the nest got. The grill was closed, which is why we didn't know that they were in there at first. We kept it closed except for the times that we checked up on them. Memorial weekend Bobby opened it and a couple of them fell/hopped out. So, we figured it was time to send them on their way. It took several hours, but they eventually all flew off.

Now we're power washing and Cloroxing and incinerating anything that was in or on the grill!!!

Swimming on Memorial Day.

Brace yourself -- the next one is scary. And you can see my burn from Saturday at the airshow. I remembered face, ears, neck, arms and totally forgot my chest!

Emily had her surgery on Thursday and did really well. She had a little bit of a rough time coming out of anesthesia, but other than that, it was smooth sailing. Today her eye was more swollen and painful than yesterday, but as long as I stay on top of the pain meds, she does alright. She goes back for her check-up on Tues.
I was going to take a picture of her, but she fell asleep....

More later,
Jen
